About the APAHA What does APAHA do for me? The Arabian Professional and Amateur Horseman’s Association is the horsemen’s voice.  The simple fact is that for over a decade, the horse show community has been the driving force behind the Arabian breed.  Horses, enjoyed and exhibited by their owners, amateurs, and trainers in a wide variety of disciplines at Arabian horse shows and beyond have become the backbone of the breed, allowing owners the joy of participation as well as serving as a major promotional arm for the Arabian horse. First and foremost, APAHA’s objective is to be the voice of the horse show enthusiast.  Our united aim has been to speak for you, the Arabian horse show community, to the management of the associations and competitions that depend on the showing public for our patronage and participation. Additionally, we are focused on the base of our industry pyramid.  Our plans for this year include appointing Regional representatives of APAHA in all 18 Regions to encourage participation on the local and regional level.  This year APAHA will begin to create an award program that will recognize the most Outstanding Class A Show in each Region.  In conjunction with the existing National awards program, APAHA will also implement additional Recognition Awards for the Up and Coming Regional Trainer of the Year, the Outstanding Regional Youth Program Administrator, and a Regional Industry Service Award. For our membership as a whole, our already existing web site is being beefed up and filled out for better member communication and interaction.  A members-only chat room will be up and running within a month, along with forums that will provide recipes for outreach activities to help members promote the breed outside of our circle, and immediate access to board meeting minutes posted on the web site. Long term visions include the creation of a Horsemen’s Distress Fund and the development of a national point driven award system.  Our continued commitment is to give the showing community a strong and effective voice in the development of our future.
